“The matches between Azerbaijan and Armenia squads have been cancelled which means both parties reached agreement. The presidents of the two countries might have made a decision in the meeting in St. Petersburg”, former AFFA president Fuad Musayev told APA-Sport.
Musayev thinks if there had been no agreement between the parties, UEFA Executive Committee wouldn’t have cancelled the matches. Former AFFA president called the decision a compromise. Nevertheless, he said the decision doesn’t favor Azeri squad.
The duty of footballers is to play and gain results. I think we could have beaten Armenian if AFFA and coach staff had a useful plan. But taking political situation into consideration, it is a good decision”, he said.
The matches between Azerbaijan and Armenia were to take place on June 8 in Baku and four days later in Yerevan. /APA-Sport/
