Azerbaijan women’s football team member Anna Alekberova, who plays in Russian SKA, was banned to return to Baku, Azeri squad chief Telman Abdullayev told APA-Sport.
Abdullayev stated that the footballer was not allowed to come to Baku at the meeting with club president.
“I had a phone talk with Anna yesterday. She was crying. The situation is probably unpleasant because Anna couldn’t get permission from the club president to return to Baku”, he said.
The chief noted 19-year-old is trying to terminate the contract unilaterally. Nevertheless, SKA leadership doesn’t intend to lose a leading player of the team. Abdullayev mentioned that Alekberova will be punished by international football organizations if she terminates the deal one-sidedly.
“Anna’s deal with the club is to expire by December this year. If she terminates the contract before the appointed deadline, the club will appeal to Russian Football Union, as well as UEFA. They menaced our footballer during the meeting”, he said.
Abdullayev explained that though Alekberova has all necessary conditions in Russia, the atmosphere in the team presses her.
“Anna doesn’t like the atmosphere in the team. Nevertheless, she has to wait till the deal is expired. Club leadership promised to permit her to play in official matches of Azerbaijan national team”, he said. /APA-Sport/
