Fuad Esedov: AFFA couldn’t afford to look after Shefa stadium

“We have rented out Shefa stadium to Inter at AZN 252 000 per year”, stated AFFA secretary general Fuad Esedov, APA-Sport reports.
He said there is no illegal act in this decision.
“This stadium is AFFA’s property. There is a law in Azerbaijan allowing owner to rent his property. AFFA spent AZN150 000 annually for the stadium before it was rented. And now the federation is going to get AZN252 000 income annually from the rent. Besides, AFFA will not spend money for the stadium. So, annual income of the federation will make up AZN 550 000. AZN 8mln will be transferred to AFFA’s account. Considering that $3mln had been spent for construction of the stadium, it is clear how much AFFA will profit. Inter carries out repair works in the stadium. But AFFA couldn’t afford to look after the stadium in high level. Secretary General refutes talks that he is not a football man.
“I was Azerbaijan champion in Tovuz’s Mehsul when I was 16. I worked for ten years as a president of Baku Football Federation. I worked as an AFFA vice-president for 8 years and now I am secretary general. Now you are to choose whether I am closer to football or those who think I am not. Only more experienced figures may appraise my activity in the federation”, he said.
Esedov said the rumors about his dismissal in near future are groundless.
“I think those we spread this rumour are unaware of AFFA Regulations. As for resignation, it depends on me. I can resign whenever I want to. /APA-Sport/
