Barcelona defeats Real Madrid to top La Liga table

Baku-APA. Barcelona shot to the top of the Spainish La Liga table after it came from an early goal deficit to Real Madrid 3-1 at the Bernabeu on Saturday, APA reports.
Madrid will now seek to overcome its rivalâ€™s superior goal differentials when it meets Sevilla next weekend. Real had taken the lead less than a minute into the game through Karim Benzema who easily netted in the ball after Mesut Ozil intercepted a poor clearance from Barcelona goalkeeper Victor. Alex Sanchex however leveled the game for Barcelona in the 30th minute with a low shot after Messi created the chance with a burst through the half field. Half time
Eight minutes after halftime, the visitors gained lead with midfielder Xaviâ€™s shot deflected off Real defender Marcelo, catching goalkeeper Iker Casillas off guard. Real failed to level up in the 65th minute when Xabi Alonso’s cross to an unmarked Ronaldo was headed wide in the game that appeared to be an evenly-matched contest.
Shortly after Ronaldoâ€™s miss, former Arsenal forward Cesc Fabregas sealed the game for Barca as he powered in a superb far-post header after he connected a right-wing cross from Dani Alves. Barcaâ€™s win consolidated its unbeaten record in the Spanish capital in the league since 2008 and ended Real Madridâ€™s 15-match winning streak.
