Indictment developed by prosecutor on fixed matches in Turkish football accepted by court

Baku â€“ APA. Istanbul Grave Crimes Court â„–16 accepted the indictment of the prosecutor on the fixed football matches in the country. APA reports that 401-page indictment was sent by the prosecutor on December 3. According to the law, the court must either accept the indictment or return it to the prosecutor within 15 days. The court has accepted the indictment today and appointed the first meeting of the judicial trial to February 14, 2012.

A total of 93 people have been charged. 31 of them are in jail now. President of â€œFenerbahceâ€ club Aziz Yildirim, President of â€œSivassporâ€ club Mecnun Odyakmaz, President of â€œGiresunsporâ€ club Olgun Peker, Vice-President of â€œBesiktasâ€ club Serdar Adali, Head Coach of â€œBesiktasâ€ club Tayfur Havutcu, Sport Director of â€œEskishehirsporâ€ club, former football star Umit Karan, players of â€œIstanbul Boyuk Shehir Belediyyesiâ€ club Ibrahim Akin and Iskender Alin, goalkeeper of â€œSivassporâ€ club Korcan Celikay, some representatives of â€œFenerbahceâ€ clubâ€™s leadership as well as managers are among them.

YÄ±ldÄ±rÄ±m was charged with a total of 13 different crimes, including â€œleading an unarmed organization formed to get unlawful profit,â€ â€œfraudâ€ in six matches, â€œfixingâ€ four matches and paying incentives to another team in three matches.

The grave punishments are considered for Peker, Yildirim and the other accused. But the parliament decided to facilitate the punishments at the request of the football clubs. The new draft law embracing the facilitation of punishments was adopted in the parliament. Despite President Abdullah Gul put a veto on the law, the ruling and opposition parties adopted the law and announced that they would send it to the president. In this case the president has to approve the law.

The police operations on fixed matches in Turkish football started on July 3 this year. The Turkish Football Federation announced that it would pass its final decision on clubs and persons at the end of the season (May-June 2012).
