In the third quarter of 2024, the current account (CA) surplus of Azerbaijan's balance of payments amounted to $4 billion, Samir Nasirov, Director of the Statistics Department of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan said at briefing, APA-Economics reports.
According to him, the share of the current account in GDP was 7.2%: "The current account surplus in the oil and gas sector was $11.1 billion, and the current account deficit in the non-oil sector was $7.1 billion."
It should be noted that the Central Bank and international financial organizations forecast that the current account of Azerbaijan will be in surplus by the end of 2024. Last time, on December 6 this year, S&P Global Ratings forecasted Azerbaijan's current account surplus at 6.9 percent of GDP by the end of 2024.
