"Our main policy toward Russia is that Russia must recognize Georgia's territorial integrity. This is the main obstacle in relations between Russia and Georgia," Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili said at a briefing, APA's local bureau reports.
According to him, Moscow's recognition of Georgia's territorial integrity would mean the removal of all obstacles.
The speaker noted that the main goal of the Georgian authorities is to put an end to the occupation of the territories.
Commenting on the "presidential elections" being held today in the occupied South Ossetia region, the parliament speaker said that discussing the "elections" would mean considering whether they are legitimate or illegitimate.
"No 'elections' are being held in South Ossetia. There is neither an 'independent South Ossetia' nor an 'independent Abkhazia.' As the Georgian Dream party, we have proven in the Strasbourg court that Russia exercises effective control over these two regions. This means that Russia has occupied both territories," Shalva Papuashvili added.
