"We are ready to continue political dialogue with the United States and expect the same approach from Washington," Georgian First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili said in an interview with Imedi TV, APA's local bureau reports.
She stressed that she believes the new U.S. administration will take a fair approach toward Georgia.
"Both sides seem to share the view that we should restart our strategic partnership from a clean slate. However, we believe, and we share this view with the U.S. side, that our strategic partnership should be filled with concrete substance. What that substance will be is undoubtedly a matter for diplomatic work and political dialogue with the American side," the foreign minister added.
It should be noted that the United States has appointed Amy Diaz as its new Chargé d'Affaires ad interim to Georgia. During an introductory meeting between Maka Botchorishvili and the diplomat, Georgia-U.S. relations and prospects for future cooperation were discussed.
It should be recalled that the previous U.S. administration suspended the strategic partnership with Georgia on November 30, 2024.
