Minister of the Armed Forces of France Sébastien Lecornu announced three areas of defense cooperation between Paris and Yerevan, French FM wrote on X account, APA reports.
Emphasizing the importance of Armenia having the ability to defend itself, the French minister pointed out that France supports the transformation of the Armenian army and helps Armenia in this direction. According to Lecornu, France has taken a number of steps in this direction. Among them, he pointed out the creation of a military mission under the French embassy in Armenia in 2023, the sending of a French officer as a military adviser to the Armenian Defense Ministry, as well as mutual visits and meetings.
“The second direction is training. Cooperation with officer and junior officer training schools, training by operational training units, especially in the mountainous areas and precision shooting...," the minister added.
He underlined the strengthening of land-air defense as the third direction. Lecornu said that an agreement for the purchase of 3 GM200 radars and a letter of intent regarding air defense was signed: "the signing of the letter of intent for the purchase of the Mistral missile and the upcoming audit of Armenia's surface air defense should be noted," the minister added.
