"Azerenergy OJSC is carrying out relevant work to integrate about 2,000 megawatts of renewable energy capacity into the country's energy system," Deputy Minister of Energy Elnur Soltanov said in a statement to APA-Economics.
According to him, currently 8 projects with a capacity of about 2 GW are being implemented in the country in the field of renewable energy, and "Azerenergy", the system operator, is carrying out innovations and modernization work to integrate these capacities into the energy system of the republic.
"Azerenergy is carrying out innovations and modernization in the system to ensure the integration of this additional renewable energy into the system," Elnur Soltanov noted.
The Deputy Minister also added that discussions are currently underway with the World Bank within the framework of the integration of renewable energy sources to build new substations and lines in the energy system.
In addition, Elnur Soltanov said that work is currently underway to determine a company to build the first industrial-scale battery system in Azerbaijan.
