Volume of losses in oil pipelines in Azerbaijan increased

In January–September of this year, oil losses in Azerbaijan’s pipelines amounted to 3.8 thousand tons, which is 8.6% higher compared in an annual comparison, the State Statistical Committee told APA-Economics.

During the corresponding period in 2024, oil losses across the country’s pipelines amounted to 3.5 thousand tons.

Note that in January–September of this year, 27,592.8 thousand tons of oil were transported through Azerbaijan’s pipelines, which is 4.4% lower in an annual comparison. 74.5% of the transportation was carried out through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil export pipeline (BTC), and during the reporting period, 20,569.1 thousand tons of oil were transported through this pipeline, which is 5.1% lower in an annual comparison.

Recall that last year, oil losses in Azerbaijan’s pipelines amounted to 4.5 thousand tons, which is 18.4% higher in an annual comparison.

Last year, 38,752.1 thousand tons of oil were transported through Azerbaijan’s pipelines, which is 2.5% lower in an annual comparison. 76% of the transportation was carried out through the BTC, and during the reporting period, 29,470.9 thousand tons of oil were transported through this pipeline, which is 2.4% lower in an annual comparison.
