The volume of cargo transported by sea in Azerbaijan in 2025 amounted to 9,089.6 thousand tons, an increase of 5.4% compared to the previous year, APA-Economics reports, citing the monthly report of the State Statistical Committee.
It was noted that 47.5% of the cargo transported during the reporting period was oil cargo.
It is noted that the number of passengers transported by this type of transport during the period decreased by 10.2% compared to 2024 and amounted to 25.5 thousand people.
"Seaports carried out loading and unloading operations in the amount of 129,59.5 thousand tons, and 10,246.3 thousand tons or 79.1% of the cargo were transit cargo. As of January 1, 2026, the volume of cargo remaining in the ports was 441.3 thousand tons," the report states.
