Natural gas consumption to decrease in Europe next year -FORECAST

Last year, gas demand in Europe amounted to 522 billion cubic meters, which represents an increase of only 3% compared to the 2024 figure, APA-Economics reports, citing the International Energy Agency’s (IEA) report on the gas market in Europe.

According to the report, gas demand in Europe in 2024 stood at 507 billion cubic meters, which is 1.4% higher than in 2023. Thus, compared to 2024, the growth dynamics of gas demand in Europe accelerated in 2025.

According to the agency’s forecast, gas demand in Europe will amount to 512 billion cubic meters in 2026, which means a decrease of approximately 1.9% compared to 2025.

Recall that the transportation of Azerbaijani gas to Europe via the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) began on December 31, 2020.

Note that to date, more than 54 billion cubic meters of gas have been transported to Europe through TAP.
