Türkiye is moving in the right direction toward establishing an international gas hub, said Alpaslan Bayraktar, the country’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, APA-Economics reports, citing TASS.
"As the volume of competitively priced gas entering Türkiye and the export opportunities around us increase, I believe we are automatically building this gas hub,” the minister said.
Alparslan Bayraktar emphasized the size and potential of Türkiye’s gas market: “We have a large market, we have significant capabilities, and we can supply Türkiye with anywhere from 7 billion to 70–80 billion cubic meters of gas per year. […] We are monitoring the situation and have relocated the Energy Exchange (EPİAŞ) to the Istanbul financial center.”
According to Alparslan Bayraktar, Türkiye imports gas from 14 directions, including via gas pipelines from Azerbaijan, Russia, and Iran.
