This year, global coal demand will increase by 0.5% compared to 2024, reaching a record high of 8.85 billion tons, APA-Economics reports, citing the International Energy Agency (IEA) report “Coal 2025”.
“Global coal demand is expected to gradually decline towards the end of this decade, amid increasing competition from other energy sources, including renewables, natural gas and nuclear power,” the report states.
Thus, according to the report, global coal demand for 2030 will decrease by 3% compared to 2025.
