Energy Minister: Work done in energy sector opens up new opportunities for development of a green economy

The work carried out in the energy sector opens up new opportunities for the development of the green economy, said the Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov at today’s plenary session of the Milli Majlis while discussing the draft law “On the State Budget of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2026.”

The minister stated that attracting approximately 2.8 billion USD in foreign and local investment for 8 industrial-scale solar and wind power plants with a total capacity of around 2 GW — which have been completed or are planned to be implemented by 2027 — not only contributes to economic growth, but also opens new opportunities for the development of the green economy: “The signing of agreements on the creation of the ‘Caspian – Black Sea – Europe’ and ‘Central Asia – Azerbaijan’ green energy corridors and the start of work in this direction will further strengthen role of our country which is a strategic energy hub role, as a reliable energy exporter, and a destination for green investments.”
