The creation of green energy zones in Karabakh will be the basis for the transition to net zero, Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov said at the panel meeting held in Baku within the framework of the UN's Preliminary Conference of the Parties on Climate Change (Pre-COP29), APA reports.
He stated that they plan to realize 7 gigawatts of green energy by 2030: “Of this, 70% will be exported. These green energy corridors will make a significant contribution to the green energy transition from Central Asia to Europe. As the first country in the region to host COP29, Azerbaijan has an ambitious agenda to achieve balanced results at COP29, including the new agreement of the Paris Agreement and the implementation of its Article 6. The COP29 presidency will focus on significantly increasing financial flows while also facilitating the rapid removal of barriers. Azerbaijan is not only leading the acceleration of the global energy transition but also undertaking large-scale initiatives.”
