At today’s meeting of the parliament, Ziyafat Asgarov stated that insulting expressions are used about the Head of State.
He said that the opposition members, authors of these insults, are still living with the thinking of the 90s: “They are not developing and still living with Isgandar Hamidov’s thinking. Hamidov, who declares himself hero now, insulted the Azerbaijani people through the state television. Now they are insulting the Azerbaijani President. Let’s not forget that the Azerbaijani President has at least three higher statuses. He is President of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of Azerbaijan and Senior Executive of Azerbaijan. But these statuses are violated and insulted by the opposition. And we can not protect our president from the legal aspect.”
Ziyafat Asgarov mentioned article 106 of the Constitution.
“This article openly shows inviolability of President’s honor and dignity. But this article is violated. Therefore, I offer to pass a law basing on this article and take this issue under serious control,” he said.
He offered to urgently discuss this draft law during the autumn session.
