Public TV: Jamil Hasanli used 6 minutes 12 seconds more than 6-minute free airtime allocated for the campaign

BakÄ±. RÉ™ÅŸad Süleymanov – APA. The Public Television and Radio Broadcasting Company has issued a statement regarding the incident that happened during the free airtime of presidential candidates on September 19.

The Company’s press service told APA that at the round table held on the Public Television and Radio Broadcasting Company on September 19 in connection with the campaign of the registered presidential candidates in Azerbaijan, presidential candidate Jamil Hasanli replied to the other opponent using the free airtime and then unreasonably demanded extra airtime.

“Though recalling the requirements of the Election Code, the presenter warned Jamil Hasanli to observe the legislation, he ignored the right remarks and continued his speech. Jamil Hasanli has repeatedly interfered in the free airtime allocated for Ali Ahmadov, an authorized representative of the registered presidential candidate Ilham Aliyev, and not avoided insulting the round-table participants.”

So, he used 6 minutes 12 seconds more than 6-minute free airtime allocated for the campaign. He used 6 minutes and 15 seconds for his speech, 5 minutes and 37 seconds for dispute with a presidential candidate Hafiz Hajiyev without a microphone and 20 seconds for intervention in the time of Ali Ahmadov, an authorized representative of the presidential candidate Ilham Aliyev, totally 12 minutes and 12 seconds…

Therefore, the time of the round table exceeded the time determined in the program. We want to note that unethical statements used as a result of the tension are unequivocally condemned by the Public Television audience. It is also proved by the messages sent to the e-mail of Public TV and calls of the audience and listeners.”

Public TV said that footage of the round table held on September 19, 2013 has been sent to the CEC for investigation.
