If Armenia withdraws from the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), the country's annual gas import costs could increase by 69% to $657.5 million, APA reports.
This was stated in a report prepared by representatives of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan within a body operating with the participation of the heads of government of the Eurasian Economic Union member states.
The document also noted that, in accordance with international law, the Union's member states could consider temporarily suspending Armenia's participation in the organization, taking into account the risks arising from Yerevan's actions.
It should be noted that Armenia's steps toward closer relations with the European Union have become a subject of discussion in relations between Moscow and Yerevan. The Russian side has warned about the economic consequences of Armenia's withdrawal from the EAEU and the future of preferential prices for Russian gas.
