Press Council appeals to Interior Ministry

The Council told APA that according to the appeal, media representatives - regional correspondent of Azadliq Radio Tural Mustafayev, employees of Azadlig newspaper Sevinj Vagifgizi and Ramin Deko, as well as correspondent of Turan Information Agency Etimad Budagov and Yen Musavat’s correspondent Roya Rafiyeva faced pressures.

The appeal also says the reports that journalists faced obstacles while fulfilling professional activity make it necessary to have a sensitive approach to the issue. The situation becomes more delicate as there is little time left till the presidential elections and Azerbaijan is in the focus of the world's attention. Anything that happens in the country is assessed in the context of freedom of speech and press: “Taking all these into account, we ask you to focus on the issue. We are sure that accuracy of the claims that journalists underwent pressure will be investigated and relevant information will be given to the public”.
