Ilham Aliyev: "Initiatives, put forward by Azerbaijan, have a global nature"

Baku- APA. Azerbaijan plays an important role in addressing energy security. This is a great achievement, our greatest success. At the same time, it is a big responsibility. Since the initiatives, put forward by Azerbaijan, have even gone beyond the regional and have global nature, said Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev at the opening ceremony of the shipyard in Garadagh district.

The Head of State noted that a successful oil and gas policy of Azerbaijan will contribute to the solution of energy problems not only in the region but also on the European continent. "Over twenty years, oil and gas potential of Azerbaijan has developed considerably. In recent years we have turned the country from importer of electricity and gas into exporter. In addition, today the main part of our economic policy is the development of non-oil sector. "

Ilham Aliyev stressed the importance of efforts to turn Azerbaijan into the center in different directions. "We have already achieved this. Azerbaijan - energy, economic, industrial, and transportation center of the South Caucasus and the center for inter-religious relations and tolerance. Today, our economic views, economic policies, investment plans have already gone beyond the region. Azerbaijan allocates funds to international organizations, provides its activities as a donor. Today Azerbaijan is investing in other markets, other economies, in order to see an even greater effect of both in economic and political terms in future."
