The letter says that Radio Free Europe / Radio Liberty financed by a foreign country is flagrantly violating requirements of the Election Code by conducting pre-election campaign in Azerbaijan: “The radio has even created "Election-2013" section with “familiarize the candidate” links on its website and is seriously violating the requirements of legislation and professional code of conduct by promoting a specific candidate with information and programs.”
The Party told that according to paragraph #4 of article #74 of the Election Code, subjects envisaged in paragraph #2 of Article #90 i.e. foreign states and foreign legal entities are banned from conducting pre-election campaign and distributing election campaign materials. It is indicated in the website of Radio Free Europe / Radio Liberty radio that this radio is a non-profit organization funded by the United States Congress and has an obligation not to conduct a campaign. It is also indicated that Radio Free Europe / Radio Liberty radio does not lobby the adoption of a specific political or legislative decisions, support the candidates elected or appointed to official positions and conduct campaign against them.
