Ali Hasanov told APA that the arrest of Parviz Hashimli has nothing to do with his journalistic activities.
The head of department said that statement of the government agency dealing with the arrest of Hashimli is currently being investigated: “The investigation is going on, the public has been and will be informed about the investigation.”
The official said there is no evidence that journalist Hashimli was arrested for insulting someone or writing a critical article: “The arrest of Parviz Hashimli has nothing to do with his journalistic activities.”
Hashimli was arrested on September 17, 2013 over charges under Criminal Code’s articles #206.3.2 (smuggling of firearms by an organized group) and 228.2.1 (obtaining, storing, carrying firearms, their spare parts).
