Bakı – APA. As a part of his visit to New York to take part in the 68th session of the UN General Assembly, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov chaired informal meeting of the Ministerial Council of the Economic Cooperation Organization, Foreign Ministry’s press service told APA.
According to Elmar Mammadyarov, favorable conditions have been created to increase the efficiency of economic cooperation for ECO member states basing on the diversity of the member states and rich economic potential of the region. The Minister underlined the importance of determining the main targets and improving result-oriented cooperation.
Noting that South Caucasus region is affected by the protracted conflicts, Elmar Mammadyarov said the conflict caused by Armenia’s aggression against Azerbaijan is the major source of instability in the region and major obstacle for the economic development and regional cooperation. He added that the conflict can be solved only within Azerbaijan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and internationally-recognized borders. Elmar Mammadyarov expressed his gratitude to ECO member states for strong support and common position.
