Huseynov said 1700 sentenced people, 12 percent of all prisoners, would be released according to the Act of Amnesty. He said term of sentence of 1200 prisoners would be cut. There will be 190 prisoners for one hundred thousand persons in Azerbaijan, which is the leading indication in CIS and same in the Eastern Europe.
Initiator of the Act of Amnesty MP Mehriban Aliyeva said that the resolution of amnesty adopted by Milli Majlis contributed to the principles of humanism. Mehriban Aliyeva noted that this policy was founded by Heydar Aliyev. She said the Act of Amnesty would enable the prisoners to take right way. The lawmaker congratulated the members of the Parliament and Azerbaijani People on the upcoming Novruz Holiday.
