Azerbaijanâ€™s President participates in inauguration of â€œRadiogurashdirmaâ€ plant of Defense Industry Ministry

Baku â€“ APA. Azerbaijanâ€™s President Ilham Aliyev participated in the inauguration of the newly-reconstructed â€œRadiogurashdirmaâ€ plant of â€œJihazâ€ Production Unit of Defense Industry Ministry on March 16, Presidentâ€™s press service told APA. The head of state laid a bunch of flowers before the bust of Heydar Aliyev and cut the ribbon.

The president was informed about the work done after Defense Industry Ministry was established in 2005. It was noted that 16 areas of production had been opened in the enterprises of the ministry, production of defense-purpose products meeting modern demands had started. Under the presidentâ€™s order, construction and reconstruction will start in 17 facilities within the framework of investment program for 2009.

Under the program of state defense order, 213 kinds of defense-purpose products and their spare parts were produced and delivered to security agencies in 2007, 300 kinds of such products were produced in 2008. A great deal of military supplies were produced and delivered to clients. Defense industry enterprises have begun producing engineering equipment, engineering munitions and training supplies, engineering service and intelligence supplies. Defense-purpose products delivered to clients last year increased by 6.1 times compared with 2005. 435 kinds of defense-purpose products and their spare parts will be produced this year, for example, the most modern armoured carriers, various tank mines, telescopes, air training bombs. 163 machines and technical equipment, over 5000 various tools have been bought from Germany, US, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Ukraine, Turkey, China, Russia, Belarus and Korea up to now. Technical equipment will be bought and installed to establish area of production of 7 more kinds of defense-purpose products in 2009. A range of measures will be taken to extend production of civil products in defense industry enterprises this year.

The President was told that the first enterprise of radio industry in Azerbaijan Baku Radio Plant was established under the Local Industry Ministry in 1947. Radio receivers, TV sets, universal electronic calculating machines were produced in this plant.
