Suit to be brought against parliamentary decision on referendum at Constitutional Court

Baku. Elnur Mammadli-APA. Movement for Karabakh and Republic has today held next assembly, Leyla Yunus, Coordinator of the Movement said after the meeting that discussions were conducted on referendum to be held on March 18. The Movement leadership has appealed to MM and considered to cancel the decision, because it is against the Constitution. The meeting passed a decision to suit against parliamentary decision on December 26, 2008 at the Constitutional Court. Isa Gambar, Head of Musavat Party, Ali Karimli, Head of Azerbaijan Popular Front Party, Sardar Jalaloglu, Chairman of Azerbaijan Democratic Party, Lale Shovkat, leader of National Unity Movement, Igbal Agazadeh, Head of Umid Party, Ali Aliyev, Chairman of Citizen and Development Party, Leyla Yunus, Chairwoman of Peace and Democracy Institute signed the appeal.
Yunus underlined that the assembly debated the results of appeals made by the movement to Azerbaijan People’s Republic and National Independence Initiative Groups.
“We have contacted with Institutive Groups to join the movement and they sent written application. Irrespective of regular and urgent invitations, their opinions and positions taken in media are very regretful. We consider that their position increases opportunities of the government regarding referendum.
