Baku. Elbrus Seyfullayev – APA. Chairperson of the Parliament’s Standing Commission on Human Rights Rabiyyat Aslanova criticized State Migration Service in today’s sitting of the parliament, APA reports. Aslanova said at the discussions on amendments and changes to the law on immigration that the documents she had wanted from chief of State Migration Service were not satisfactory. Aslanova said there was no statistical information in the documents on the state of migration in the country.
“They even cannot distinguish between urbanization and migration. I do not know what this service is engaged in. Why special program on migration is not applied in Azerbaijan? Migrants get status of migrant two years after coming to Azerbaijan. What do they do within these two years?” she said.

Rabiyyat Aslanova said she had applied to Interior Ministry to get statistical information.
She also said that 54,192 foreigners were registered in Azerbaijan. Rabiyyat Aslanova said the number of migrants was increasing rapidly and added that migrants mainly came from South Eastern Asia. The chairperson of the commission said there were about 6,000 Chinese in the country. She noted that the number of immigrants was more than that of emigrants.
Speaker Ogtay Asadov agreed to Aslanova’s remarks and said the State Migration Service had been newly established.
“We should help them,” he said.
