CEC registers one initiative group and says nay to another group

Baku. Elnur Mammadli –APA. The Central Election Commission refused to register “Abad Kand†(Prosperous Village) Initiative Group established for March 18 Referendum. CEC secretary Natig Mammadov said the group submitted 43 250 signatures to the commission, APA reports. 38 730 signatures were considered as authoritative and 4541 were non-authoritative, APA reports. Mammadov said most of non-authoritative signatures were related to the inaccurate identity information. The initiative groups need to submit 40 000 signatures to be registered as a campaign group. CEC approved the “Progress†initiative group as a campaign group, which submitted 44 000 signatures and 41 553 of them were authoritative.
