Baku. Elnur Mammadli–APA. Member of the Parliament Aydin Mirzazadeh was appointed an authoritative representative of the New Azerbaijan Campaign Group to the Central Election Commission (CEC).
CEC approved the list of 25 authoritative representatives and 25 advocates of the New Azerbaijan Campaign Group on January 27, APA reports.
CEC members also reviewed the appeal of the initiative group “For Karabakh and Republic”. The group’s representative Hasan Karimov told CEC that their signature collectors faced with pressure by police and executive bodies in the regions and two members of the Azerbaijan People’s Front party were arrested in Sabirabad. CEC Secretary Natig Mammadov said that the facts were investigated and not approved. He said the party members were arrested in Sabirabad because of drug storage, which had no relation to referendum.
CEC Chairman Mazahir Panahov said that Umid Party’s representative sent them a letter, where he said that he was involved in signature campaign, but couldn’t collect the signatures. He sent back the signature leaflets.
CEC member Akif Gurbanov said he did not believe it and called to identify whether that person was the Umid’s member or not.
Representative of the initiative group “For Karabakh and Republic” Hasan Karimov said the signature collectors faced with pressure in the regions and two arrested in Sabirabad were slandered.
CEC considered appeals of both groups groundless.
