Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan held a meeting on the results of the first half of 2011
According to him, the use of multiple information resources significantly increased the effectiveness of prevention and crime detection, the search for perpetrators, ensuring road safety, allowed to respond quickly to the offense.
At the meeting it was noted that during January-June 2011 suppressed 2493 offenses, 147 offenses against public order, eliminated 28 fires, 8 cases auto hooliganism, found 16 wanted car, etc.
By means of “information portal†identified 447 accused persons and answered 270 thousands important questions help revealing crimes.
With the help of an automated fingerprinting and crime lab evidence base collected by 22.4% (1954), investigating cases.
For all subjects reported 12,139 crimes, of which 95% of 11 520 is an offense for which an investigation is the responsibility of the Interior Ministry and Prosecutor’s Office.
From the bottom 90.5% of the offense does not represent a big danger to the public, and only 9.5% can be attributed to the severe and very severe crimes. Of the total number of crimes 82.2%, and within the jurisdiction of the Interior Ministry and Prosecutor’s Office revealed 83.4%.
An increase of solved homicides by 3.3%, car theft by 60%, all the crimes of kidnapping disclosed. During the first half decreased by 19% severe and very serious crimes, including a 7.2% targeted killings, extortion by 33.3%, -3.7% pickpockets. Crimes such as hostage taking and robbery were not registered. During the reporting period compared to the same period of 2010 to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, and 31 cities and regions there was a reduction of severe and very severe crimes. Together with the prosecuting authorities have been disclosed in previous years the remaining 155, and on the "hot pursuit" 566 crimes.
In conclusion, the minister in general positively assessed the work of Ministry of Interior, at the same time drew attention to a number of drawbacks, not a sufficient response of some territorial authorities on the crime situation.
