The European Investment Bank (EIB) has provided technical assistance for the safety assessment of the Baku–Boyuk Kasik railway line, which is part of the Middle Corridor, Stella Renita, Head of the EIB Group Regional Representation for the South Caucasus, said during a panel discussion at the Azerbaijan–European Union Business Forum, APA-Economics reports.
According to her, in addition to loans, the bank also provides technical support to the projects it finances during their preparation and implementation stages.
S. Renita cited the technical assistance provided for the safety assessment of the railway corridor in Azerbaijan as an example.
It should be noted that, as part of the EIB's technical assistance, opportunities to improve safety along the 503-kilometer Baku–Boyuk Kasik railway line were assessed. The 10-month technical assistance project carried out in this direction was completed in 2024.
S. Renita stated that the assessment is expected to pave the way for the implementation of a specific investment project in the future.
The EIB official emphasized that technical assistance is an important component of the bank's financing mechanisms in terms of supporting the preparation and implementation of projects.
