Infrastructure investments, digitalization, and the development of economic activities beyond transport should be the main priorities to ensure the efficient and commercially sustainable operation of the Middle Corridor, Nataly Mouravidze, Head of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Resident Office in Azerbaijan, said at the Azerbaijan–European Union Business Forum, APA-Economics reports.
According to her, the first priority is investments aimed at eliminating existing bottlenecks in ports, railways, maritime transport infrastructure, and multimodal logistics facilities.
The second priority is strengthening digitalization and coordination. This includes harmonizing procedures, improving data exchange, increasing transparency, and expanding cooperation among participants.
The third priority is the development of logistics, manufacturing, processing, and export-oriented activities along the corridor.
N. Mouravidze emphasized that for businesses, the reliability, predictability, and costs of the entire transport chain are important, rather than those of individual sections of the route.
