Isa Gambar: It is up to the authorities to pass a decision concerning the dialogue

Baku. Parvin Abbasov â€“ APA. â€œAt the session held late in April the Public Chamber passed a decision to continue mass events, only the date was not determined. Proposals were made during the consultations to continue the mass actions in the middle of June. This proposal will be discussed at the session on May 27. The session will pass a decision about the action. This is nothing principled in offering two dates,â€ chairman of Musavat Party, member of the Public Chamberâ€™s Coordination Council Isa Gambar said in his interview to APA.

Chairman of Musavat said they will again appeal to Baku mayorâ€™s office for holding an action.
â€œI think the authorities should give up persistence and offer opportunities for the maintenance of the constitutional rights of the citizens. This time the authorities can pass a righter decision. If the authorities continue persistence, the Public Chamber will realize its right to hold peaceful mass actions,â€ he said.

Commenting on authorities-opposition dialogue Isa Gambar said it is not important who the initiator is.
â€œThe main thing is to be ready for dialogue. It is clear that democratic forces support dialogue in the entire society, including between the authorities and the opposition. Therefore, it is up to the authorities to pass a decision concerning the dialogue. Unfortunately, the authorities are not ready for dialogue. But maybe they will think over it and pass a right decision,â€ he said.

While APFP and Musavat merger is discussed in the press, Isa Gambar said he advocated for merger in larger format. Answering the question on it, Gambar said his proposal aims consolidation of democratic line. â€œThere could be different options of this consolidation. It seems that the Public Chamber is a successful project and continues successfullyâ€.

Gambar said they were preparing for the Musavat congress. â€œThe Musavatâ€™s congress was always held in high level and the society always focused attention on it. We are seriously preparing for the congress. There are some problems due to the obstacles created for the political parties. Some of Musavat activists, including Arif Hajili and young activists were arrested. We were finishing the regional organizations meetings and after that a final decision on the concrete schedule of the congress will be made. I hop it will be held as soon as possible. We will not wait until the end of the yearâ€. Gambar said imprisonment couldnâ€™t restrict the right of any Musavatist to be elected the party chairman. He said he wished Arif Hajili and others to be released soon and to participate in this process.

He said he wouldnâ€™t run for the party chairmanship in the congress. â€œThere are experienced politicians in Musavat party and I believe the party will elect one of its best representatives as chairmanâ€.
