With the cooling of the weather during the autumn-winter months, an increased risk of the spread of acute respiratory viral infections, including seasonal influenza, is observed, the Ministry of Health told APA.
In order to prevent the spread of influenza and other respiratory infections among the population, as well as to strengthen preventive measures, the Ministry of Health has brought flu vaccines into the country this year as well.
According to the order of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan, "On strengthening anti-epidemic measures against acute respiratory diseases and conducting a flu vaccination campaign in the republic during the autumn-winter season of 2026–2027," vaccination against seasonal influenza is scheduled to begin on October 21, 2026.
It was noted that people at higher risk of complications from influenza infection, particularly healthcare workers, pregnant women, as well as individuals over 6 months of age with chronic respiratory diseases, are recommended to get vaccinated against influenza.
"Vaccination against seasonal influenza is one of the main preventive measures for protection against the disease and prevention of its possible complications. The Ministry of Health calls on the population to follow preventive measures against seasonal influenza, including actively participating in the vaccination process. Flu vaccination is carried out free of charge at state medical institutions providing outpatient and polyclinic services according to citizens' place of residence or work," the statement said.
