President Ilham Aliyev: “Our success in “Eurovision†contest is the victory Azerbaijani youth, Azerbaijani people and Azerbaijani stateâ€
The President reminded Azerbaijan’s 4th performance in the “Eurovision†contest and noted that good results were achieved in all these years: “but this result certainly is the most beautiful result and peakâ€.
President Aliyev said that Heydar Aliyev Fund, Mehriban Aliyeva were the initiators of Azerbaijan’s participation in “Eurovisionâ€: “We joined this contest with their initiative and Heydar Aliyev Fund, Ministry of Youth and Tourism, Public Television and the other organizations have been actively working during these years. We were more approaching to the victory every year. I can say that this contest is the prestigious contest of the world. Of course, it covers the European countries. But I consider that there is not second contest similar to it. The viewing audience was more than 100 mln. The achievement of the first place in such prestigious contest is a historical victory. It is, first of all, your victory. It is a victory of Azerbaijani youth, Azerbaijani people and Azerbaijani state. It will remain in history. Azerbaijan has said its word in “Eurovision†history. It certainly joys us. I wish you successes! I am sure that you will worthily represent our country after that. Thus, Azerbaijan has said its word in this field. We are used to the victory in the sport. Our sportsmen joy us with their victories in different competitions. It is the first victory in this sphere. I congratulate you again and wish you new successes!â€
President of Heydar Aliyev Fund, Azerbaijan’s First Lady also congratulated the winners of the “Eurovision†song contest and wished them successes in their future acitivites.
Eldar Gasimov expressed thanks and said that it was a victory of entire Azerbaijan.
