Swedish journalists detained in “Sahil” garden on April 17 deported from Azerbaijan

She noted that the investigation was held on the Swedish journalists and the relevant decision was passed as a result of the investigation. The foreign journalists were delivered to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Spokesman for the Ministry of Internal Affairs Orkhan Mansurzadeh told APA that according to Azerbaijan’s legislation, every journalist must be accredited in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in order to be engaged in the journalism in our country. During the investigations it was known that these journalists were not accredited in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. That’s why basing the requirements of the legislation, they were deported from the country.

The press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told APA that the Swedish journalists, detained in “Sahil” garden on April 17, were not accredited: “We have got any official appeal from these journalists”.

Three Swedish journalists, who were covering the Public Chamber’s unauthorized action on April 17, were detained by police.

Charlie Laprevote, My Rohwedder Street and Charlotta Wijkström, who had not the relevant permission in order to be engaged with the journalism in Azerbaijan, were handed over to SMS.
