Council of State Support for NGOs under President to announce anti-corruption competition on five directions
Azay Guliyev, chairman of the Council of State Support for NGOs under President, spoke about the projects supported by the Council. He said 3 projects were financed in 2008, 7 projects in 2009, in 2010 the council supported and financed draft law on “Anti-corruption expertiseâ€.
“18 projects were supported in the past three years. 7368 participated in the project,†he said.
Guliyev underlined the support to the important projects on anti-corruption in 2011 and said that the council will help the civil community in this direction: “At the council’s meeting held on April 12 we decided to announce contest in 5 directions for the active participation of NGOs against corruptionâ€.
Director General of Public Television Ismayil Omarov delivered a speech on the topic “The presentation of project carried out by Public Television on Anti-corruptionâ€. He said that the program named “Corruption - NO†will be on air on Public TV: “There will be a live program. The participation of leading officials of the corresponding organizations in the program will be ensured.
Head of the Secretary of the Anti-Corruption Commission Inam Karimov said that one of the main works in this sphere is the establishment of judicial clinics and the taking of steps in this sphere has started: “we try to support the projects which are carried out with our activity. For example www.rusum.az website was established.â€

Chairman of the League of Protection of Labor Rights of the Citizens Sahib Mammadov said it needed to examine normative acts which cause bureaucracy and to increase efficiency of the working mechanism of hotlines at the government agencies.
Chairman of the Ownership and Market Economy Development Fund Sabit Bagirov considers that the procedures need to be simplified. “Contacts with the citizens should be intensified. Salaries should be raised doubleâ€.
In the end of discussions, NGO anti-corruption network issued statement saying that as the Azerbaijani President noted the anti-corruption struggle should be sustainable and systematic and contain comprehensive measures covering all spheres. It needs to have close cooperation with the civil institutions and to be guided by the supremacy of law.
