Baku Mayor’s Office has not received appeal concerning rally scheduled by Public Chamber for April 2

Baku Mayor’s Office has not received an appeal concerning the rally scheduled by the Public Chamber for April 2, chief of Baku Mayor’s Office department for public organizations and political parties Zaur Ramazanov told APA. He added if Baku Mayor’s Office receives an appeal, a relevant reply will be given.

Deputy chairman of Musavat Party Tofig Yagublu told APA that they sent a letter to Baku Mayor’s Office by post on March 18.
“The letter was taken to Baku Mayor’s Office on March 18, but they did not receive it saying it was the end of the working day. We were obliged to send the letter by post. The letter was late, because Baku Mayor’s Office did not work on the occasion of the holiday,” he said.

The appeal undersigned by Musavat Party, Azerbaijan Popular Front Party, Classic Popular Front Party and Azerbaijan National Independence Party was sent to Baku Mayor’s Office on behalf of the Public Chamber. They said they will hold protest action outside Narimanov cinema demanding democratic reforms, freedom of expression, early parliamentary elections, liberty to Karabakh. The rally will be held on 14.00 – 16.00. According to the decision of the Public Chamber’s Coordination Council, if Baku Mayor’s Office does not allow to hold a rally outside Narimanov cinema, the protest action will be held in the Fountain Square.
