Azerbaijani Diaspora in US sends letters to Congress members within the framework of Turkish National Sovereignty & Children’s Day campaign

â€œEvery year on April 23, Turks around the world celebrate the Turkish National Sovereignty and Children’s Day. On this day, 91 years ago, the Turkish Grand National Assembly (parliament) was established to take lead in realizing the aspirations of Turkish people for freedom, justice and peaceâ€, remind the letters.

â€œOn the eve of this holiday, we request your recognition of the importance of Turkey as the unique model of predominantly-Muslim secular democracy, leading economic power, key US and NATO ally, and of the valuable contribution of Turkish-Americans to the advancement of Americaâ€, the Azeri and Turk Diasporas state.

According to the authors, modern Turkey is the world’s only sustainable predominantly-Muslim secular parliamentary democracy. It is among of the fastest growing emerging markets and an important US partner in a vital region stretching from the Balkans and the Middle East to the Caucasus and Central Asia.

â€œOver the less than a century of immigration, Turkish-American community has had a tremendous impact on a diverse cultural spectrum of our nation, and Turkish-Americans contributed to advancement of America in the spheres of business, science, technology and artsâ€, the letters remind.
