Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change is considered one of the biggest and most influential events of the world, said Soltan Mammadov, the MP of Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani Parliament) in an interview with APA.

Mr. Soltanov noted that Azerbaijan’s holding such a prestigious event is an indicator of President Ilham Aliyev’s victory and the increasing influence of the country in the international arena: “After our chairmanship to the Non-Aligned Movement and our membership in the Security Council, this is considered one of the greatest successes of our foreign policy. We actively participate in the fight against climate change by being a part of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. Reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 35 percent by 2030 is defined as one of the main goals. Azerbaijan plans to reduce this indicator by 40% by 2050."
