Azerbaijan's state-guaranteed debt decreased by AZN 2 billion 482.4 million during the first nine months of 2026, the Ministry of Finance said, APA-Economics reports.
As of October 1, the total amount of state-guaranteed debt stood at AZN 7 billion 886 million.
At the beginning of the year, this figure amounted to AZN 10 billion 368.4 million. Thus, the volume of state-guaranteed debt decreased by 23.9%.
At the end of the reporting period, AZN 4 billion 857.8 million, or 61.6%, of state-guaranteed debt accounted for external state-guaranteed loans, while AZN 3 billion 28.2 million, or 38.4%, accounted for domestic state-guaranteed loans.
The ratio of state-guaranteed debt to GDP declined from 8% at the beginning of the year to 5.7%.
According to the ministry, the main reason for the decrease was the repayment of USD 2 billion worth of foreign currency-denominated bonds issued by Southern Gas Corridor CJSC under a state guarantee.
