It is important to translate international commitments into practical mechanisms, Zahra Mohamed Redha Mohamad Said Al Lawaiti, a member of the delegation from Oman participating in the third high-level meeting of the heads of anti-corruption authorities of the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Baku, told journalists, APA reports.
She emphasized the importance of strengthening international cooperation in the fight against corruption, protecting public funds, and ensuring institutional accountability.
The Omani representative noted that the meeting is of particular importance in terms of accelerating the implementation of the Makkah Al-Mukarramah Convention.
According to the representative, strengthening cross-border information exchange, mutual legal assistance, asset tracing and recovery mechanisms, as well as coordination of law enforcement measures, plays an important role in this regard.
She stated that effective anti-corruption systems should encompass preventive measures, risk-based oversight, early detection of violations, and ensuring legal accountability: “Our main priority is to translate international commitments into practical mechanisms and measurable results, strengthen institutional capacities, and protect public funds.”
The Omani representative thanked Azerbaijan's Prosecutor General's Office for the high-level organization of the event and the warm hospitality.
