"President Ilham Aliyev emphasized in his speech at the opening of the forum that a new stage has begun in the history of Azerbaijan and the region. The goal of this stage, following the liberation of the occupied territories, is to achieve and consolidate peace," Miguel Ángel Moratinos, UN Under-Secretary-General, High Representative for the Alliance of Civilizations, and UN Special Envoy to Combat Islamophobia, told APA.
According to him, the United Nations is ready to assist the parties within the framework of its Plan of Action to Safeguard Religious Sites.
"UNESCO and other organizations, as well as the UN Security Council, can support this process. The goal is to turn the reconciliation process into reality," Moratinos emphasized.
