“As a result of COP29 and the impact it has created, numerous concrete areas of action related to climate have been identified. Therefore, we look forward to implementing them over the next five years,” Dmytro Shlapachenko, newly appointed UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan said during a panel session at the Fourth Climate Week (CW4) conference of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, APA reports.
“It is fantastic to hold such a climate gathering in Baku. I think this is very important for the United Nations. We are very pleased to cooperate with all participating parties, and especially with the Government of Azerbaijan for its generous and prompt support in holding such a wonderful event,” the UN representative noted.
According to him, with the support of the global UN task force established within the framework of COP29, 25 UN agencies have come together, and many of the initiatives are already at the implementation stage.
