A boat carrying 140 illegal migrants was intercepted by British authorities in the English Channel, APA reports citing Sky News.
The operation involved rescue boats, a helicopter, and a UK Coastguard aircraft. The intercepted vessel was heading toward the coast of Hampshire, England, from the commune of Jobourg (Normandy) in northwestern France. The migrants were transferred to Royal National Lifeboat Society lifeboats and taken to Portsmouth. From there, they are expected to be transported to Manston, where a migrant detention center is located.
