“Türkiye is participating in this event in Baku with more than 30 representatives,” Samed Ağırbaş, President of the Zero Waste Foundation and COP31 High-Level Climate Champion, said during his speech at the Fourth Climate Week (CW4) conference of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, APA reports.
He stated that the road to COP31 passed through Baku — COP29: “As the COP31 team, we have learned a lot from Azerbaijan’s COP29 Presidency. COP31 should bring climate ambition even closer to the real economy. We must turn climate commitments into investable and bankable projects and solutions that can be implemented at scale. Climate finance will be crucial to these efforts. This is particularly important for developing economies, least developed countries and especially small island states under threat. This means remaining committed to the energy transition, mobilizing climate finance and bringing governments, businesses, investors, cities and civil society together around practical solutions. The road from Baku to COP31 is a shared path. With the experience of COP29, the strong brotherhood between Türkiye and Azerbaijan, and the support of our global partners, we can turn COP31 into a platform that delivers implementation, partnership and hope for real impact."
