An interesting dialogue took place during a joint press conference between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Armenian counterpart Ararat Mirzoyan, APA's Moscow correspondent reports.
The Russian journalist asked the Armenian minister a question about Armenia's EU membership project.
After asking "What timeframe does the Armenian government hope for regarding EU membership? How does the Armenian government intend to combine EU and Eurasian Economic Union membership?", the Russian journalist wanted to ask Lavrov his question. At this point, Lavrov suggested that Mirzoyan answer the first question: "Let Ararat Samvelovich answer!"
Mirzoyan's reaction to the Russian Foreign Minister's proposal was interesting: "Does Sergey Viktorovich's answer depend on this?". Lavrov replied to Mirzoyan's retort, "No, this question is not addressed to me, but to you."
Mirzoyan said that the draft law on EU membership is a public document and that it does not mention about specific terms and mechanisms. He underlined that this project is an initiative of civil society.
The Armenian Foreign Minister could not answer the question in detail: "What will happen next, we will solve it later. As for the contradiction between the European Union and the Eurasian Economic Union, I cannot judge it or invent something new. If the issue is posed like this, then it will probably be necessary to look into it."
