UN Security Council holds closed consultations on Georgia-Abkhazia conflict

UN Security Council held closed consultations dedicated to regulating the Georgia-Abkhazia conflict. The head of the UN Mission on Georgia Observation, Jean Arno, took a floor. He presented to the Council’s members the last report of the UN Secretary General on a situation in Abkhazia.
The report states that during the last time there were no armed attacks or confrontation in a zone of the Georgia-Abkhazia conflict. However there was a disinformation on this positive backstage that caused animosity and fears.
The UN Secretary General underlined that the Georgia-Abkhazia "political process is deadlocked". In 2007 relations between parties were at the lowest level.
Ban Ki-Moon stated that UN Secretariat may carry out appreciating peace process in Abkhazia with the help Group of Friends./APA/
